Ultimate Tool Gift Guide by Down Leahs Lane

I’ve been blessed to be married to a genuine Handyman for the past 16 years!

Everytime I come up with a crazy project idea (I’m the creative/design nut in the family), my overly driven husband finds a way to make it!

Am I one lucky lady or what?! The only downfall to being married to Mark is that we NEVER sit still and relax! LoL!!

what makes this tool guide different?

I’ve watched him fix combines, tractors, cattle fences, build fine furniture and create just about anything I ask him to.

In order to create these projects, this genuine handyman needs the right tools!

So I tied him down, and had him give me the deets on his favorite tools and why.

I promise, he is particular when it comes to tools, and this man has used tools his entire life so he knows what he’s talking about.

Mark is my husband, a farmer, woodworker and my resident HandyMan. Here, he's building our ruff sawn Hickory Modern Industrial Bed Frame (which I adore)!

Let's Start Shopping this Ultimate Tool Guide!

An essential is a drill…bonus is this kit that also comes with an impact.

Drills are for making the holes in things, impacts are for tightening up screws, bolts, ect.

Add this Dewalt 20V Brushless Drill / Impact Combo Kit under the tree this holiday!

Already have a drill, but need an impact? Check out this Dewalt 20V Brushless 1/4in 3 speed Impact Driver!

Mark used this Stanley FatMax Magnetic Torpedo Level to build our open staircase in our new home and he said he LOVED it!

It’s magnetic so it’s super helpful when you need your hands free. Add this one to his collection too!

I love this light too!! This hand held Stanley FatMax Rechargeable Spotlight is a favorite of both Mark and I; we use it ALL THE TIME!!

It’s so bright, handy and is a must for any household!

A few years ago, I walked into our favorite local woodworking store and asked what I should buy Mark for Christmas.

The guy said, “Does he have a Kreg Jig? It’s new and it’s revolutionary!”

So I purchased this Kreg Jig K4 Pocket Hole System for Mark, and it was revolutionary.

If your woodworker doesn’t have a Kreg Jig…BUY THIS FOR THEM!!

Want to get your woodworker a complete kit!

Go for this Kreg Jig K5 Master System with Jig HD and Pocket Hole screws!

Already have the Kreg Jig? Then get some extra clamps…apparently woodworkers can never have enough clamps!

Go for this Kreg KHC Premium Face Clamp

If you only need one tape measure, this is one of my hubby’s favorites!

This Stanley FaxMax Tape Measure will sure to make him smile!

Every handyman needs a tape measure, this  Milwaukee Stud Tape Measure is husband approved!

Two tape measure in this package!

Apparently clamps are like shoes & purses to a woodworker…you can never have enough! Haha!

Mark uses these Bessey Body REVO Jr 18in Clamps and he said any size of clamp comes in handy, so don’t hesitate to buy multiple sizes.

Another Bessey clamp, but this one is even heavier duty, the Bessey Heavy Duty I-Beam 36in Clamp. Again he said, “I always need more clamps.”

So if you’re handyman is anything like mine, you could buy all clamps for his gifts and he’d be thrilled!

I see Mark using these Handi Clamps all the time and he said they’re just that, super handy.

They come in various sizes as well, all are helpful in the shop!

1 1/2 inch Irwin Quick-Grip, Handi-Clamp

2 inch Irwin Quick-Grip, Handi-Clamp

4 inch Irwin Quick-Grip, Handi-Clamp

Another tool that I see Mark picking up CONSTANTLY is a square!

You have to have your corners “square” so they match up. This Dewalt Aluminum Premium Rafter Square is a great gift for Beginner to Advanced Woodworker!

A great tool kit gift idea is this Milwaukee Combo Kit

It includes the essentials any handyman will need!

Looking for a tool kit, just minus the sawzsall? This Milwaukee Hammer Drill/Impact Driver is just perfect!

A good saw is crucial for any woodworker. My hubby’s pic is this Dewalt 60Volt Brushless Circular Saw Kit with Batteries

You’re thinking, “But Leah, my handyman has lots of batteries.”

That’s what I used to think too. I’ve come to learn that you can never have enough batteries around! You don’t want to be in the middle of a “honey do” job and run out of batteries! LoL!

Want to really wow your handyman?!

Ready to get all those DIY projects done?!

Give this 20V Max Brushless Premium 6 Tool Combo Kit

When it comes to woodworking and metal work, I can’t tell you how many times my husband is switching bits!

Having a large variety of sizes just makes working on projects easier. This Milwaukee 18-piece Shockwave Impact Duty Thunderbolt Titanium Drill bit Set he said would fit the bill in a shop.

Sometimes you don’t need to get out a drill, just need a good screwdriver set.

This Dewalt Screwdriver Bit Set with Nut pieces, 71-piece give plenty of options for any project’s needs.

When your project is built, sanding smooth the wood is a must before finishing it with stain and topcoat.

Sanding is Mark’s least favorite thing to do, so a good sander like Dewalt Random Orbit Sander 5-inch with Cord helps with this step.

Wanting to opt for a cordless sander?

Then go with this Dewalt 20V MAX Cordless Random Orbit Sander 5-inch Kit

Sanding is so crucial to a great finish on a project. You spend so much time building it, make sure you sand it right for finishing.

This Porter-cable Belt with 8-inch Disc Bench Sander, 4″x36″ will do the trick.

Another essential to have on hand is this Dewalt Drive Socket Set/Metric, 1 1/2inch, 23 piece

Every handyman (or woman) needs a complete socket and wrench set.

This Craftsman 450 piece Tool Set is just that. He’ll use these to fix vehicles, tractors, build projects (yes ladies for your house) and fix it stuff around the home. A must have!

If your Handyman prefers a Dewalt socket and wrench set instead, check out this Dewalt Mechanics Tool and Socket Set 204-piece

A nice Dewalt Combination Wrench Set, SAE, 8 piece is a set Mark likes because they’re offset just enough to give knuckle clearance…and if you’ve ever seen a Handyman’s knuckles, you know they take a beating!

I’ve said Mark is pretty particular on what tools he likes.

Nothing he’s more fussy about than his hammer. This Estwing Framing Hammer, 22oz Long Handle Straight Rip Claw with Milled Face and Shock Reduction Grip is his pick.

Give his hands a break with these Klein Tool Cushion Grip Screwdriver with Tips, 5-piece Set

His hands will thank you!

Want to get him/her a few more screwdrivers? Here’s a great Craftsman 41-piece Mixed Screwdriver Set

You want your projects level, so give this Stabila 48-inch & 16-inch Aluminum Box Beam Level Set to ensure your project turns out perfect!

Only need one level? Check out this Stanley FatMax 48-inch Non-Magnetic Level

Sometimes you just need a good old heavy pipe wrench to get stuff done! This Ridgid Cast Iron Pipe Wrench comes in a variety of sizes…you can’t go wrong with any of them!

Ridgid Heavy Duty Cast Iron Pipe Wrench, 12 inch

Ridgid Heavy Duty Cast Iron Pipe Wrench, 14 inch

Ridgid Heavy Duty Cast Iron Pipe Wrench, 18 inch

This is another thing that I use just as much as my hubby! This Werner Aluminum Telescoping Multi Ladder, 22 foot, is lightweight and super handy!

So this is the gift you give him (and bonus, you can use it too)! Wink, wink!!

Piers to a Handyman are like socks and underwear to the general population.

You don’t go anywhere without them! LoL!!

This Craftsman 4-piece Pliers Set is a perfect gift!!

Whether you’re building a wall or hanging wall decor, this super handy Black+Decker Line Laser, Auto-Leveling with AnglePro (BDL170) will come in very useful.

During and after project building, you’re gonna have clean up. This Craftsman 16-gal, Wet/Dry, Heavy Duty Shop Vac will definitely come in handy!

I can’t count how many times we’ve used our wet/dry shop vac to clean up liquid spills or even when water seeps into the basement on occasion.

I’ve gushed about this Dewalt 18/20V MAX Cordless Wet/Dry Vacuum before, and I’m gonna do it again!

We have one of these in our attached garage and it’s so handy, I actually want one for just the house also!

We use this to quickly vac out vehicles, suck up dust on baseboards, stairs, window sills and more! One of my favs for sure!

This Pro Lift c-3001 Pneumatic Chair with 300 lbs Capacity stool can be used by your Handyman, or as the “supervising designer”…haha, yes that’s what we joking say my title is sometimes during a project.

This Paslode 501000 PowerMaster Plus Pneumatic Framing Nailer is something that Mark wanted for a long time, and once he bought one, he wondered why he waited so long.

This is powered by an air compressor, so make sure you’re set up with one before you buy this nail gun.

Where will your Handyman/Handywoman put all their tools?

Why in this Craftsman 52-inch, 18-drawer Heavy Duty Rolling Tool Cart and Chest

This combo is a splurge, but will assure organization of tools and big smiles on your Handyman’s face.

If you’re like me, you’d ask if that tool chest comes in black?!

Luckily it does! This Craftsman Edge Tool Cabinet, 52-inch wide, 11 drawer, Black tool chest fits the design and function bill!

An assortment of ratcheting wrenches is sure to please anyone who spends time in a shop.

This Craftsman 20-piece Ratcheting Combination Wrench Set is a classic choice.

You never know when a breakdown may happen. This Craftsman 130-piece Mechanic’s Tool Set and 16-inch Metal Toolbox is super handy to leave in your pickup truck for whenever you may need tools for a breakdown.

Want to be ready for any breakdown?? This Craftsman 270-piece Mechanics Tool Set with 3-Drawer Chest will have you covered!

Prefer Dewalt? No problem! This Dewalt Mechanics Tool & Socket Set, 142-piece set has you covered!

A table saw is pretty fundamental to a woodworker. Your handyman can start his woodworking career with this Dewalt 10-inch Table Saw, 16-inch Rip Capacity.

Interested in upgrading the Table Saw? This Powermatic PM1000 Table Saw 30-inch fence is sure to delight your woodworker!!

Jointers are used to create a flat surface along its length. This is needed if you mill your own wood or buy rough cut lumber.

This PowerMatic 1791317K 54HH 6-inch Jointer with Helical Cutterhead will help your woodworker utilize all kinds of lumber.

Doing certain tasks, my hubby likes to listen to podcast and music while he works.

These Letscom Wireless Earbuds Bluetooth Headphones allow him to do just that!

Ty from Industry DIY is a awesome handyman I’ve got to know. He’s a farmer in Texas and a skilled woodworker!

He just created a line of fun t-shirts and posters that would be perfect for your handyman!

This shirt also comes in a blush pink color for the ladies!!
